Some of you may notice that our cast and crew seem a bit familiar. Unless you know us in real life, you may recognize us from our previous blogging adventures. Until a few years ago, our family shared our story at SimplyLivingTheDream.com.
We enjoyed blogging and (virtually) meeting people from around the world. However, real-life sometimes receives real interruptions. Liam and I are both pediatric nurses. We work for the same major medical facility but in different specialties. One of the ‘regulating bodies’ of the health care industry decided that a degree, a nursing license, and years of experience were not enough. They pressured hospitals to hire BSN degree nurses only and to require that staff-nurses, no matter their experience, have or acquire a BSN degree.
Our hospital was subject to these ‘recommendations’. So, on top of working, farming, parenting, homeschooling, and gibbering in corners, we added full-time college…for two. Something had to give. That, something, was the blog. Well, honestly, several things gave including the blog, the garden, farm expansion, any type of social interaction, and the last threads of my sanity. Amazingly, we’re still speaking to each other, and the kids are still speaking to us!
Though we graduated a year ago, we still have two in college. Jonah is about halfway through, and Grace is taking dual-credit courses during her senior year. Sam, on the other hand, plans to attend trade school after graduation. He likes working with his hands and doesn’t like busywork. Liam and I are running between the family, the farm, and our nursing jobs. I hope you’ll join us as we get back to life on the farm. We’re excited about several areas of expansion currently in the works.
When we decided to resume blogging, we discovered that our previous domain name had expired. Previously, I had a lot of fun writing a series of posts titled ‘Fridays on Funny Farm’ (FOTFF). Branching off those posts seemed like a fun direction for the new blog. I intend to recreate a few posts that were popular on SimplyLivingTheDream.com, but we have tons of new ideas and stories percolating. We plan to bring FOTFF back, along with sharing our thoughts and ideas about frugality, food, farming, family, and fun!
Please join us for the adventure and mayhem!
